The first weekend in August, we traveled to New York to spend time with both of our families.
Dan shares his birthday with his Aunt Penny (his dad's sister). Since she turned 70 this year, her daughter threw her a surprise party. Although Aunt Penny ended up finding out that there was going to be a party, she didn't know who was on the guest list (including us!).
She was very surprised to see so many people - we had a great time visiting with everyone, and it was nice because my parents were there too, so they got to meet more of Dan's relatives. That was also the weekend when we got a chance to meet Tess and when Hannah went swimming for the first time.

Because my parents only live about an hour from Aunt Penny, we stayed there for the weekend. Hannah had a great time helping Grandma and Grandpa make Shabbat dinner...
...but didn't really like sitting in the high chair at their house...
, until we gave her some toys to play with!
