Hannah the Tourist

Yesterday, we took Hannah into Boston for her first day as a tourist. We had a wonderful time!

We met up with an old friend of mine, Jen, her husband, Jared, and their daughter, Abby, who were visiting from out of town. Abby is about 2 weeks older than Hannah, and they seem like very similar little girls. It was so much fun to finally introduce them to one another and to spend time with Jen and Jared.

It was also Hannah's first time in a Baby Bjorn - we love our Ergo, but since she's so curious, we thought she might enjoy being able to face outwards. Since that's not possible in an Ergo, we borrowed a Baby Bjorn Active from my friend Kara. It worked out really well!

Dan wore her for most of the day, but I have to say that when I was wearing her, it was much more comfortable than I had been expecting. I've heard that many people find that the Baby Bjorn is hard to wear, but I didn't mind it at all. It was also fun to hold her hands while we walked, or to hold onto her (just barely) chubby thighs and swing them in front of me.

Not only did Hannah like being able to see what was going on around her, she also liked being able to chew on the front of the carrier. By the end of the day, there was a giant drool spot all over the front of it. Oops!

While we waited to meet up with our friends, we stopped at the Greenway Open Market, which we didn't even know about until we walked by it. It was great, and I would definitely go back to see it another time! There were lots of craft vendors and a bunch of food trucks. We bought a rosemary peach lemonade from Clover Food Lab (delicious!), and an adorable summer hat for Hannah from Thomas Park Gifts (I wanted to buy her a headband as well, but they were all either too big or too small. Maybe next time!). The hat is reversible!

Our first stop was the New England Aquarium. Dan and I have always loved it there (we even considered getting a membership a few years ago), and we thought it would be exciting for the babies to watch all the fish and sea animals move around. We were right - it seemed like they really enjoyed it. Hannah was especially fascinated by the tropical fish - they were very colorful and she was following specific fish as they swam around the tank.

"Who needs to look at the camera? This fish tank is way cooler..."

After the aquarium, we decided to walk around Quincy Market. We had lunch at Ned Devine's which was nice because the girls got to play with each other a little. We were wondering what they were talking about!

They were actually having a conversation in baby talk - Hannah would babble for a minute or two and then Abby would answer. So cute!

It was also interesting to compare how they are similar and how they're different. It also made me realize that Hannah really is long for her age - she was a couple of inches taller than Abby!

I've decided that they will be great friends when they grow up - although Dan laughed at me when I suggested that they be pen-pals. Apparently nobody does that anymore (silly me!); he said that they'll Skype and text one another instead.

We walked around Boston for a while after lunch - here are a few of the highlights:

Faneuil Hall - there was a "town meeting" going on while we were there - Jen was happy that we did something historical for at least a few minutes!

Jared's camera takes much better indoor photos than mine!

Haymarket - we walked through all of the vendors at the farmer's market and each bought a few things. It's always so exciting there and there is a lot to see and smell.

Harborwalk - We walked along the water and then stopped to take a few photos of me, Jen, and the girls:
