Hannah's First Day Trip

We took Hannah on her first road trip today, to Portsmouth, NH. It should have taken less than an hour to get there, but instead took us more than 2 hours! Who knew that there would still be so much holiday traffic this afternoon? Oh well we didn't let that dampen our spirits too much.

Hannah got to try out her "big girl" stroller - she hasn't been in this stroller since she was only a few weeks old. It's a great umbrella stroller that lays completely flat, so we were using it when she was first born. We've fallen in love with our Snugrider, so we had stopped using this stroller, but it came in very handy today while we were walking around. How cute is she? Several people commented on how well she is sitting up, although we think that the stroller really helped with that today.

Our first stop was lunch at Me and Ollie's, followed by a requisite stop for samples at Stonewall Kitchen. We debated buying a few things, but decided not to on this trip. We then spent a few hours wandering around Portsmouth. We especially enjoyed our time in G. Willikers. We read Hannah a few books about babies and love and played with some toys, including a Curious George jack-in-the-box. I didn't see Hannah's reaction because Dan was holding her at the time, but I'm guessing it was very surprising to her!

Dan and I shared a gelato at Roly's English Fudge and walked down by the harbor. We finished our outing with dinner at Portsmouth Brewery, one of our favorite "local" brewpubs.

When we got back to the car, Hannah decided that she wanted to drive home since we had sat in such bad traffic on the way there...

Unfortunately she was more interested in eating the seat-belt than in driving, so Daddy tried to help her a little bit...

She still didn't get the hang of it, and since her feet didn't reach the pedals, we figured it was better if she was a back-seat driver for the trip home!

All in all, a very wonderful day for the three of us!
