We've been trying to teach Hannah sign language since she was about 8 months old. We were about ready to give up, and now all of a sudden she's figured out how to sign several words. We were so excited!
I'm guessing that they might use sign language at school, because I'm not sure how else she mastered so many words so quickly! It's been a great help though - we went through a few weeks where Hannah was shrieking constantly because she was frustrated that she wasn't able to communicate with us.
She is now able to sign "more," "please," and "eat." She signs "more" all the time now, even when she still has food left on her plate. Especially when cheese is involved! :)
Sometimes she has her own sign for "please" - rather than making a circle on her body, she rubs her hands up and down her belly. It's really cute.
