Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

I alluded to this in a previous post, but Hannah had Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease a few weeks ago. It was pretty terrible - she had a fever of 104, and then a rash all over her body, including sores in her mouth.  She basically refused to eat or drink, and didn't even want to swallow her own saliva.

It was so hard to watch her when she was so uncomfortable and not be able to explain it to her.  But, we were able to get her to drink orange Pedialyte and gave her lots of popsicles and some ice cream!

You can still see the rash on her cheeks in these photos, but this was later in the week when she was finally feeling a little bit better.  We had to stay home all week (and most of last week also) because it's so contagious...

which is why Dan ended up catching it from her.  He was sick all of last weekend - poor guy.  He never got the mouth sores or much of a rash, but he did have a high fever for a few days.

Hopefully we're done with that now... although apparently she could still catch a different strain of it.  Let's hope that doesn't happen...
