Finger Painting... Sort of.

I've been wanting to finger paint with Hannah for a while, so we finally tried it yesterday! It didn't go quite as planned, but it was still a lot of fun...

I wanted to make the finger paint myself because I had found a few recipes online and then we knew exactly what we were giving her to play with. We decided that we weren't comfortable giving her food coloring since we knew that she would try and eat the paint, so that narrowed down our choices a lot. We eventually settled on just letting her "paint" with actual baby food and then taking pictures of the end result but not saving it (you know, that whole mold thing kinda puts a damper on saving food items...).

Surprisingly, Hannah had zero interest in playing with the "paint." In fact, Dan and I basically smeared all of the food around on the paper for her and she just sat there staring at us like we were crazy. We know that she doesn't really like getting food on her hands when she's eating, but we thought that she might not associate this as eating because we were sitting on the kitchen floor.

Eventually, she did realize that it was food, and had a lot more fun playing with the baby food jar and squeeze packet than she did with the food that was all over the paper. It was a lot of fun watching her explore those items though, so in the end it all worked out!

We're really curious to see how she'll react to eating the cake at her birthday party!

Some photos and a video for your enjoyment...
