We had Hannah's 9 month checkup yesterday, and her doctor was very thorough. She discovered that Hannah has ear infections in both ears, so we're on another round of Amoxicillin. I hope this doesn't become a pattern for Hannah, but she has been sick for most of the past month so I'd rather treat it and not worry about what's coming down the road.
Hannah also got 1 shot (which we weren't expecting and which seems to be really bothering her this time) and had her blood drawn so they could do a CBC test and a lead test. The lead test came back negative, but her platelet count was high (?) so the doctor wants her to go back next week to have another test done. She said it's most likely because Hannah is sick right now.
The phlebotomist was really nice, which is good because it took forever for her to draw the amount of blood she needed from poor Hannah's finger. For some reason it was coming out SO slowly and Hannah was getting a little bit fidgety...
Her measurements:
- 18 lbs., 9.4 oz.
- 29 inches
- 44 cm head circumference
Here's an updated growth chart -
She's somewhere between the 75th and 90th percentiles for height, and a little about the 50th percentile for weight. The doctor was pleased with her growth lately.
Unfortunately, we've decided that we're going to switch pediatricians. It was a difficult decision and we've been considering it for a while. We really like her actual doctor and feel that she's done a great job with Hannah's care. Despite this, we do not like the other doctors in the practice and don't really like the way they run their business. The nursing staff has made us feel dumb on more than one occasion, and that's not something you want to feel when you're concerned as a first-time parent!
Hannah's doctor actually called last night when she found out that we were leaving the practice. It was really sweet of her and I explained that it wasn't because of anything she did, but it still feels so weird and sad. I hope we like her new doctor!
