Hannah had her pediatric cardiology appointment at Tufts Floating Hospital for Children on Monday (to check on her heart murmur) - it went really well but was very stressful for all of us. We were very impressed with their care - hopefully we'll never have to use them again, but if we do, I'll feel confident about it.
First they measured her blood pressure with the tiniest little cuff I've ever seen, and measured the oxygen saturation in her blood. She did not like this and had a very confused look on her face because I don't think she had any idea what was going on - they measured both of those things on her leg while I was giving her a bottle.
Then they did an EKG, which did show a murmur (we did NOT like the technician/nurse for this part - she was condescending and made us more nervous!). We then met with a nurse practitioner who was very friendly and reassuring and who listened to Hannah's heart. She also asked a bunch of questions about our family's medical history, etc. Then we met with the doctor, who is actually the head of their department, and he was really nice too. He wanted us to get an ultrasound just to be safe, but didn't think it was anything unusual.
The ultrasound was actually done in the same office - Hannah didn't like being attached to so many wires or the feeling of the ultrasound gel, but she actually ended up falling asleep during it. It was so scary to see her hooked up to so many thing! She was really good considering how strange it must have all felt for her, and when they pulled the EKG stickers off, apparently it hurts (luckily the ultrasound tech did it for us). We felt so bad!
All is good though - they said it's an "innocent murmur" - they usually don't show up until the baby is at least 6 months, but that it's nothing to be worried about! We're very relieved.
She also got weighed and measured - 4.1 kg (9.04 pounds), 53.8 cm (21.18 inches). No wonder her diapers don't fit right - she's in the 25-50% for weight, and the 50-75% for height. Where did we get a long skinny kid from? :)
