Crawling!

Hannah has been crawling for about 2 1/2 weeks now!

As I mentioned in this post, when she first started moving, she wasn't able to crawl using both arms and both legs. She was so used to sitting up by pulling her legs around and underneath her body that she couldn't figure out how not to do that while trying to crawl. She would end up dragging her leg along with her while the rest of her was moving.

We went to Robyn and Jason's house for dinner when Kate, Sean and Alex were visiting, and Hannah was on the move in their living room, chasing after one of her favorite toys (it rolls). That was the first time she really was able to get wherever she wanted to go.

At first, she would only crawl when she was motivated by something in front of her, but that's over now. Since she got the hang of real crawling, she is into EVERYTHING! We've realized that we think she may be pushing that toy on purpose to follow it around - it's funny to watch! She'll stop it from rolling and then sort of push it again.

She does much better on the hardwood floors than on the carpet, and yesterday she even started lifting her butt in the air while trying to crawl (I think they call that a "bear crawl?").

We had a playdate yesterday at our house with 2 babies that are older than Hannah (8 1/2 months and 1 year, respectively) and Hannah kept up with them! I think this is pretty advanced for a baby her age... we're really proud of her! (and exhausted from chasing after her already!)

She also has started to roll over whenever we try to change her diaper - not a fun experience especially when it's a dirty one! Clothing changes are much more difficult these days also.

We ordered a lot of baby-proofing stuff online the other day because Babies R Us was having a big sale - it should come any day now (thank goodness!). In the meantime, we've been using a play area to try and contain her. She is fine playing in it if there are other people in the room, but if you leave the room she gets upset.

It was in the kitchen, but it was taking up too much space. We set it up near the windows in the living room so she can still see out on the back porch.

Here are a few photos of our big girl on the move -

She started out by the toys on the right side of this photo...
