Newport Folk Festival, Day 2

The second day of the Newport Folk Festival was even more fun than the first!  More of the artists we wanted to see where on the main stage (of 4), so the schedule was less hectic for us.  We also had the opportunity to spend the day with my friend from my youth group in high school, Amy, and her husband, Aaron and their daughter, Brinley.

Amy and I had talked beforehand and had agreed to get in touch with each other at the festival, but it turns out that we happened to set up our stuff right next to them, totally by coincidence.  It was meant to be!  We put our blankets together and had a great time playing all day.  It was especially nice because it was the first time we met Brinley.  She's adorable!

Hannah also had fun playing on the grass...

Hannah made a lot of "friends" - other festival-goers who were sitting nearby us.  She really liked one girl who was probably in her twenties and had said hello to her at one point.  Hannah wouldn't leave her alone; she kept wanting to sit next to her and talk to her.  She even brought her sweatshirt over to the girl and asked the girl to put it on her.  It was cute, but we also felt a little bad.  I hope she didn't bother the girl!  (We were wondering if Hannah thought it was someone who has babysat for us a few times - the girl reminded us of her a little bit).

One of the highlights for us from the kids' tent was when Berklee City Music Boston performed.  It's a program that offers music education and opportunities for musically inclined students from the Boston area.  They were wonderful and Hannah really liked watching them.

I love this photo!

She also had fun playing with my frozen lemonade, and even tasted a little bit of it...

As I mentioned in my other post, Hannah didn't nap during the festival.  So both nights, she fell asleep almost immediately upon getting back into her car seat.

The first night, we made the mistake of driving to our hotel (45 minutes away) before eating dinner, and she was so disoriented when she woke up that she was really cranky and refused to eat anything.

The second night, we decided to stop at a Newport Creamery that was very close to where the festival was held.   Apparently it was still too long for her to have been asleep - we had SO much trouble waking her up for dinner.  Dan joked that he could have held her upside down and she would have stayed asleep!

The weather was very ominous all weekend, but luckily we avoided all but a little bit of rain on Sunday.  Saturday night, there was a torrential downpour on our way back to the hotel, but we had already made it back to the car before the rain started.  Phew!

Overall, we had a wonderful time at the festival and are hoping to make it back there next year!
