Gymboree, Level 3

We've taken a hiatus from Gymboree for a few months while Hannah is taking swimming lessons, but I never posted about her last class there. She moved up to Level 3!

When we started at Gymboree, she was in Level 2, which is meant for children between 6 and 10 months. Because Hannah is such a fast crawler and so physically active, her teacher felt she was ready to move up a level even though she was only 9 months old. It was definitely the right decision - Hannah had a great time playing at the more advanced class. She was able to keep up with the other kids who were all older than her, and was even able to kick balls better than some of them!

We miss Gymboree a lot, and our teacher, Carla, was great - you could tell that she really cared about the kids in her groups and that they all loved her as well. When we put our membership on hold, I even mentioned to the administrator that Carla was a wonderful teacher and she was really happy to hear it.

Level 3 involves a lot more physical activities than Level 2, but still involves circle time and singing, and of course parachute time! Hannah loves playing with the parachute - we've even started improvising at home with a blanket. She thinks it's hysterical and helps us shake it up and down. We put one of her baby dolls on top of the blanket tonight when we were shaking it, and Hannah was so happy.

We've had to miss the last few weeks of swimming because Hannah had a bad ear infection; our last class is this coming Sunday. We've enjoyed it, but I think she got more out of her experience at Gymboree. We certainly don't want her to forget what she learned in the pool, but we're not sure that it's worth doing every swimming session at this age - it's mostly about the babies being comfortable in the water at this point.
