This morning, Dan took the kids to Dads and Donuts at the library. Since Mother's Day is tomorrow, the librarian read one story about moms. She also read a book about construction because the children's room at our library is going to be under construction in a few weeks. Finally, she read "Make Way for Ducklings" in anticipation of a rubber ducky race event put on today by local organizations.
When story-time was over, the kids all paraded from the library to the site of the race wearing duck headbands. Dan said that other kids at the event were even asking about the headbands and wanted one themselves!
The duck race was basically a big town fair and Hannah had a great time - she came home with 4 temporary tattoos on her hand, a tulip painted on her face, lots of free stuff and a doggy balloon animal. Sounds like they had a great time!
When they got home, Hannah and Dan got to work building our new sandbox. We've loved the turtle sandbox we got as a hand-me-down, but it isn't big enough for two kids to play in, so Dan is making one himself.
Hannah made sure that they wore their construction helmets while they were working. She pretended she was an excavator and Dan was a bulldozer. I love her imagination!
We played outside for a long time - did some swinging, some sliding, played with our new sidewalk chalk, and even broke out a mini-golf set we also got as a hand-me-down.
It's been a joy to watch the kids playing together so nicely this week - Hannah helped him on the playground for all of Friday playgroup yesterday. She even told one of her friends that she couldn't play with Ezra because he was HER brother!

The kids came with me to the grocery store to pick up a few things, and had a lot of fun playing in the shopping cart.

What a fun spring day!
